they're feeling the energy out there. october 2nd. this is "today in the bay." >>> good morning, everybody. it is 6:30. i'm jon kelley. >> and i'm laura garcia-cannon. this morning our october heat wave continues with warm temperatures expected throughout the bay area. the heat is being blamed for an elderly woman's death in the east bay and today that woman's son is traveling from virginia to the east bay to demand answers. 86-year-old yolanda membreno was found dead in 100-degree heat at pleasant hill elementary school after wandering away from a cop cord nursing home on sunday. caretakers noticed she was missing at 4:30 in the afternoon and searched on their own for about an hour before calling police. a police dog eventually traced her scent to fair oaks elementary school about 100 yards away from the facility. the family says the home told them she died of a heart attack in her sleep. the home denies saying any such thing. >>> all this hot weather is also causing one south bay park to shut down. san jose's alum rock park to be sa
